ZOOM PRESENTATION WITH PAUL NEWSOME: 19 NOV, 10:00 (UK)

4 Nov 2022 by Ian MacKENZIE

This is a bit of a coup! – we have a 90+min session with world class swim coach Paul Newsome. Paul will be zooming in from Perth, Australia for a presentation centred around his input into the swim coaching of IM Kona 2022 winner Chelsea Sodaro. The question wasn’t exactly how to help her to swim faster, but how to help her conserve energy in the swim so that her Bike would be as strong as it could be. Best Bike Split isn’t all about how to do a great Run off the bike; sometimes an athlete needs to look backwards to see how the swim is impacting the Bike performance. Paul was able to resolve the problem, unlocking Chelsea’s bike power and putting her in a position to take the win.
The presentation will be followed by a ~30min Q&A, with an opportunity for ticket holders to put a question to Paul. His advice and observations are sought by top-flight athletes around the world – this is your chance to have a super-coach give you some guidance on your issues.
Tickets for this Zoom session are available for both DTC members and for non-members of the Club who follow our adventures in Triathlon – former members, former University members, friends of members – anyone who swims will get a lot from this. Along with talking the talk as a coach and writing the script for British Triathlon swim coaching, Paul has ‘walked the walk’ as an OW swimmer – winner of the 2013 Manhattan Island 45.9km Swim, he has swum the English Channel [2011, 12h:14m], and completed the Rottnest Channel swim in Australia 4 times.
Members’ price for this session is £4; non-members pay £5.
Limited tickets are available. Grab your ticket here: https://durhamtriclub.teamapp.com/events/19033969-zoom-with-paul-newsome
